That’s right—The Francis Beidler Forest may be best known for its wildlife and thousand-year-old cypress trees, but the merchandise ain’t bad, either. The Swamp Shop, located in the Visitor Center, is a hotbed for cool books, comfortable clothing and your occasional temporary tattoo. With prices ranging from 25 cents to 75 dollars, there’s something for every customer.

For the young and young-at-heart there are fun and games galore. The Swamp Shop is home to puppets, puzzles, stickers and snakes (rubber ones, of course, but you can hold one of our real snakes if you desire). There are wooden model butterfly kits and paper chain books, as well as lots of miscellaneous creepy-crawlies that are inexpensive and fun to play with (especially if you want to scare mom on the trip back home!).

If you’re looking for something with a more refined quality, The Swamp Shop has it also. Take a close look at the subtle beauty in our handmade William Spear^TM pins, which are modeled after several of the swamp animals you might see during your visit. J. W. Stannard^TM chimes, as well as other varieties, are available. One of our best sellers is a singing bird clock that chimes in with a different birdcall every hour, and any bird friend will be tempted by our selection of feeders. If you like jewelry, there is a wide variety of earrings and lapel pins, featuring wild Bryde^TM and Pin Art^TM. For caffeine addicts, we offer whole-bean organic shade-grown coffee, which is a hard commodity to come by in this neck of the woods.

But, of course, the greatest gifts are those that let the world know where you’ve been. Francis Beidler Forest T-shirts, water bottles, magnets and mugs are what the grands and grandbabies will be asking for, and The Swamp Shop is the place to make the journey home a happier one.
